Finnish gardening culture is changing. We are back to doing things ourselves. In the future, it would be good to know how to take care of your own food security or, as the climate changes, to cultivate things in the garden that can withstand extreme weather events and sequester carbon. Working with houseplants has been a growing trend in recent years: green plants create a cosy atmosphere, are part of the interior design, clean indoor air and relieve stress. Many people also find working in the garden restorative in the midst of a hectic everyday life.
